Dear Russian fans,

Petri Lindroos is not able to perform at our shows in Russia due to
serious illness. We all hope for speedy recovery for him in coming
weeks. Cancellation was not an option to us because we dont want to
let you guys down and possible new dates would have been far in
future. Luckily we were able to get ex-member Jukka-Pekka Miettinen to
play guitar for these shows and vocals will be growled by Sami Hinkka.
We are truly looking forward for these special shows and the evening
will be a blast with you guys!!! See you in Moscow and St. Petersburg!!!

Unfortunately the first show with GWAR (22.10.08) is cancelled, because the travelling distance from the last gig of Amon Amarth tour is too great. But we are still doing rest of the GWAR shows as planned.

Ensiferum is preparing for their second North-American tour which will begin
at the first day of October of 2008. The headline band of the tour is Amon
Amarth. Detailed dates and locations can be found at the TOUR INFO

Ensiferum is very sorry for the cancellation of the Haxentanz gig in Illingen (GER). Our guitar player Markus had to go to a hospital on the previous day in Switzerland and he had to stay in the hospital for a few days. At this moment Markus is doing fine and future gigs will be played as planned.

Ensiferum has unfortunately suffered another member loss in the band as the band’s long-time keyboard player Meiju Enho decided to leave the band. The band expresses their regret for her decision to depart the band, but despite the break-up the band will victoriously go on!

Emmi Silvennoinen from the band Exsecratus has been substituting Meiju from the beginning of this year (2007) and continues to act as the live/session keyboard player for Ensiferum until further notice.

Ensiferum is finally crossing over the Atlantic Ocean to Canada and will do a small Eastern Canadian tour in November 2007. The tour dates and locations can be found at the TOUR INFO section.

The Russian Ensiferum Fan Club has given the band a gift of astronomical proportions, as on their request the Russian International Star Catalogue Space Earth has denominated a star in the Ursa Major constellation after the Finnish metal band.

False Ensiferum gigs being advertised in Europe

Yesterday we received information that an European touring agency is still advertising their "No Mercy Tour" with Ensiferum marked as one of the performers.

The TRUTH however is that Ensiferum is NOT performing
on the "No Mercy" tour.

When this agency first started advertising this tour, and us as one of the performers, they had not even asked us to take part in the tour. When we asked them what this advertising was all about, they then asked us for the tour but we could obviously not take part in it because we had already made other performing commitments for the same dates. For example Ensiferum will NOT play at the 013 in Tilburg, the Netherlands. In the Netherlands we are only playing at Rijssen and Zaandam.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE ENSIFERUM LIVE, DO NOT BUY TICKETS TO THE "NO MERCY TOUR", ENSIFERUM IS NOT TAKING PART OR PLAYING ON THAT TOUR.

To all Ensiferum fans who've bought a ticket to the "No Mercy"-tour, we recommend you to return your tickets immediately and ask for a refund. This is not a case of this agency just changing the lineup in the middle of the "No Mercy"-tour. Instead this is this the agency advertising bands that they never even had a performance contract or agreement with.

Ensiferum started the recording of the third full-lenght studioalbum in the first of November at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki. The Name of the third album will be “Victory Songs” and the producer of the album is Janne Joutsenniemi.

The band has also started to collaborate with Welldone booking agency. Teemu Suominen of Welldone will be taking care of the concert booking in Finland. This will increase the concerts in Finland, which has been few-numbered in the past. The concert booking in abroad is still being handled by ICS Festival Service.

Ensiferum will begin their next year’s tour with a small Finnish tour
in January. More information of the gigs is found in the Tour Info –section.

There seems to be rumours in the internet which claims that Ensiferum would be one of the performing acts in the coming year’s “No Mercy Fest 2007”. There has been even promotion advertising that this would be so. In reality Ensiferum does not appear on that particular tour. Either Ensiferum or the band’s official booking agency has nothing to do with this false advertising.

As a reminder: The recording of the third album will begin in November and the release date of the album is 21.2.2007. A taste of the album is available two weeks earlier 7.2.2007 in the form of a cd single.

The scheduled release date for Ensiferum's DVD "10th Anniversary Live" has been postponed by two weeks due to slow manufacturing process. The new release date is now 28.6.06. The DVD can be preordered from Levykauppa Äx (link below), or from the "Merchandise" section from the beginning of the release week.

The "10th Anniversary Live" concert held last new years eve will be released as a DVD on 14.6.2006. The recording of the third studio album will begin in November of this year and the release hopefully occurs in and around the early February of 2007.

The band apologises the failure to launch the Messageboard despite several attempts. There has been some server issues preventing the proper function of the Messageboard. At the moment the bands schedule is so overwhelming and tight, that the band has to focus on the writing of the new songs and in the upcoming concerts held this spring and summer rather than focus on the problem with the messageboard.

In addition many have asked "why the band's not coming to play there" and "why aren't any of the concerts held at this place" and the band wishes to remind that Ensiferum doesn't choose where they want to play. The fact is that the organisors / promoters of festivals and concerts give their concert offers to our booking agency who in turn forward them to us.

The release date (15.2.2006) of the new mini-cd is getting closer.

You can preorder the CD, but the delivery starts not earlier than Wednesday 15.2. The first edition will include a "Dragonheads" -sticker inside, which will not be included in the latter issues. In addition, when you order any item from the Merchandise section, you will sent a Dragonheads-sticker as an extra.

The offer lasts as long as there is stickers around. There are also some new additions (new merchandise) in the "Merchandise" section, so be sure to check them out.

Ensiferum thanks everyone who attended the 10th Anniversary Celebration concert. If everything goes according our plans, the DVD of that gig will be released at June or July 2006.

The recording of the third Studio Album begins next fall and the release of that album occurs at the end of this year, at the earliest.

Ensiferum's new mini-CD "Dragonheads" is completed even down to it's
mastering. The mini-CD was recorded and mixed last November at Sonic
Pump Studios by Nino Laurenne and mastered by Mika Jussila from Finnvox.

"X-Mass Tour 2" where Ensiferum were to perform is cancelled because
the headlining band Morbid Angel cancelled their appearance in that
paticular tour. So Ensiferum had no chance to influence the decision that the
tour was entirely canceled. The preliminary schedule indicates that the next
Ensiferum tour will begin in March of 2006.

The tickets for the New Years Eve 10-year anniversary concert held at the Nosturi (Helsinki, Finland) are available in the middle of this month. The concert that occurs in 21.10.2005 at the Raisio Music Bar has been transfered to Turku at TVO due to technical problems. The tickets that have been sold in advance to Raisio Music Bar will also be accepted in TVO.

As some of you may have already noticed, there's been a new man behind the drums at the live concerts during the past six months. Janne Parviainen has been substituting for Oliver Fokin and is now a steady member. The main reason for this change in the band was that there were too many differences of interests.

The next November Ensiferum will go to record a mini-cd, which will
include one new song and few new recordings of old demosongs. Also couple of traditional Finnish folk covers will be recorded there for the mini-cd. The Mini-cd will be released in the beginning of 2006.

The gig at Graspop Festival 26.6.2005 in Belgium is cancelled, because
the concert wasn't ever booked. The band was misinformed by the management.

Good news! The selling of the demoalbum "1997-1999" has started once
again for a limited time, because there is still a few hundred copies left.

Ensiferum thank the fans for the succesful concerts and also hugely
apologises for the technical difficulties which lead to the cancellation of
two shows in the tour. These difficulties had nothing to do with the

Not available in any other stores or retailers! "1997-1999" includes three of Ensiferum's demos, total of twelve tracks with their original sound. Also the booklet features pictures of the original cover arts.

Ensiferum regretfully announces, that the bassplayer Jukka-Pekka Miettinen has resigned from the band for personal reasons. He doesn't have time for Ensiferum anymore. Miettinen will play in the two last gigs this year in X mass festival 18.12.2004 in Holland and 19.12.2004 in Belgium. A new bass player is found for Ensiferum. Bass will be played by Sami Hinkka.

It is confirmed that Petri Lindroos (from Norther) will be a steady member in Ensiferum. He will be a vocalist and a guitarist in the band. We'll add some pictures of him later on.

There is few new confirmed gigs in the "Tour Info"-section. The updates for the "Messageboard" and the "Gallery" sections are unfortunately still post-poned to a later date. Any changes will be immediately posted. Some new products will probaply be added to the "merchandise" section later this year.

Ensiferum's second album "Iron" is in stores now. However, there is no album releasing in some countries so if you cannot find the album, ask it from the distributor or your local record dealer.

Ensiferum hasn't yet found a new singer-guitarist, but Petri Lindroos (Norther) has been negotiating with the band if he'd stay as a regular member in the band. It is certain though that Petri is doing the Ensiferum concerts this year.

On the section "Merchandise" there has been some modifications to clarify the ordering instructions.

Due to the decision of record companies and distributors the release date of Ensiferum's new album "Iron" varies in countries outside Finland. Ensiferum has got nothing to do with the delay. According to our information the album is released no later than in July 2004.

The official release date of ”Tale of Revenge” cd single is 22.03.2004 but it is already available today! The cd single contains two songs: ”Tale of Revenge” and ”Battery” (Metallica cover). There is a picture of the front cover in the ”Releases” section.

Ensiferum hasn’t yet found a replacement member/members for Jari. However a stand in has been found for the European tour. Vocals and guitars are played by Norther’s Petri Lindroos.

The release of the album ”Iron” is sadly been postponed to a later date. Now the album will be released 19.4.2004. Spinefarm records is not defering the release date on purpose like many seem to think so! The reason for this is that the album hasn’t been mastered yet! Deviating from earlier information the album is going to be mastered at Finnvox studios in Finland. After the mastering there will be some samples of the new album in our website. You can find them in the ”downloads” section. There will also be samples from the first album.

On the compilation album ”Spinetingler III” there’s a new Ensiferum song ”Tale of Revenge” which was completed before the other songs. The updating of this website has been slow because Ensiferum is busy in getting ready for the upcoming European tour and they’re also busy in finishing their second album. Now there’s some new updates like the song index of ”Iron” in the ”releases” section, the pictures of the merchandise and the tour info on the Ensiferum-Finntroll European tour in the ”tour section”.
06.01.2004 :

Ensiferum announces with a sad heart that our singer/guitarist Jari Mäenpää has been given notice of resignation and is no longer a member of Ensiferum. The reason why this happened is that Jaris solo project (Wintersun) is a priority in Jaris musical interests. If Jari had stayed in the band would Ensiferum had to cancel their most important (European)tour with Finntroll which starts in April soon after the release of the second album. Also the other touring would have been decreased to minimal which would lead to the boredom and eventual break up in the band. The search for the replacement of Jari has already begun.

30.12.2003 :

Ensiferum is going through tough times this year. That’s why the new album is delayed and it’s also one of the reasons why the updating of this site has been experiencing technical difficulties.

The new Ensiferum album is in its mastering stage. After that the new album ”Iron” is ready to be released. Unfortunately the release date is going to be delayed to 5.4.2004. Ensiferum reminds that they are not pleased with the postponing of the release date.

On a happier note, this site has some new updates for you to look in to. So we strongly suggest that you do that.

Ensiferum went to Kopenhagen, Denmark in 21.7.2003. The reason for this trip was that they are recording their second album with producer Flemming Rasmussen in Sweet Silence -studios. The album is scheduled to be released in October 2003 - January 2004.
